Artist Studio Storefront

The project intended to replace the facade and provide functional requirements for the downtown studio of stained glass artist Erin Yon. We also assisted with securing a $38,000 grant for the facade renovation from the City of Chattanooga. The design responds to a need for balance between the historic context of the neighborhood and the owner's desire for an artistic identity. The project is located in a historic district and conforms to scale and proportion of the surrounding context of the site. Incorporated into the storefront system is a 7'x 9' door opening for the ease of transporting artwork to and from the studio. A four-foot deep canopy extends over the sidewalk to provide shelter and an opportunity to gather natural light. Four horizontal glass panels created by the artist are incorporated into the canopy.
