South Chickamauga Creek Greenway

The Trust for Public Land engaged Polis Studio in Fall 2003 to investigate potential updates to the South Chickamauga Creek Greenway Master Plan developed in 1988. The update included several on-site investigations, observing existing conditions and potential trail locations, and coordination with several adjacent landowners. At the conclusion of the study, a preliminary project budget was prepared for TPL as well as a formal presentation for fundraising purposes. The presentation included a 6'x3' plan illustration and an executive summary booklet describing the plan and its features. In July 2005, the U.S. Congress announced funding to the City of Chattanooga for construction of South Chickamauga Creek Greenway. Federal funding will be matched by a gift from a local foundation.
